At the end of 2018 Stewart Wicht - CEO of Rolex - retires

Stewart Wicht, who has been president and CEO of Rolex Watch U.S.A. Inc. since 2011, will retire in December but will remain in the company’s management sector. His successor has not yet been appointed.
New York - Rolex confirmed on Tuesday what was already known in the jewellery and watchmaking industry: this year will be Stewart Wicht’s last at the helm of Rolex’s U.S. branch. Wicht, whose official title is president and CEO of Rolex Watch U.S.A. Inc., will step down in December although he will remain as a member of the company’s board. A spokesperson for the watchmaker stated that for now the company has no official statements or further comments to make regarding Wicht’s retirement. Born in London, Wicht spent his formative years travelling between Pakistan, India, and England, eventually earning his degree in business administration at Ealing Technical College (now the University of West London). He began working for Rolex SA in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1975, as supervisor of the Asia and South Pacific markets. He also founded and led the company’s Intellectual Property Department. Wicht became president and CEO of Rolex Watch U.S.A. in 2011, succeeding Allen Brill who died in November 2010 at the age of 64 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He leads a team of over 500 people and represents the brand—arguably the most prestigious and powerful in the U.S. market for watches and jewellery—at events held across the country. Wicht has served on the board of the American Gem Society and, for the past three years, has been president of the Jewelers Security Alliance. Next year he will receive a lifetime achievement award, the 2019 Gem Award from the Jewelers of America. Outside the industry, his personal interests have led him to join the committee of the American Swiss Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening relations between the two countries, and the International Tennis Hall of Fame (not coincidentally, Rolex this year became the official timekeeper of the U.S. Open.) Wicht lives in New York City with his wife Susan and daughter Fiona.
