The event, which began in 1917 in a modest corner dedicated to watches and jewelry within the Schweizer Mustermesse Basel (muba) trade fair, after the 2013 restructuring now boasts 141,000 square meters of exhibition space. The 2015 edition showcased over 1500 brands including watchmakers, jewelers, diamond, precious stone and pearl dealers, as well as machinery and tool manufacturers from all over the world. From March 19 to 26, 2015, the Baselworld fair recorded the participation of 150,000 visitors, including industry professionals, marking a 3% decrease compared to the 2014 edition. This unrivaled fair is the only one to bring together the entire industry under one roof. All internationally renowned players are represented, which gives the fair the reputation of a trendsetter as well as an unmissable event where the history of the industry is written. Baselworld will open its doors on March 23 and continue until March 30, 2017.
