Baselworld 2018 | TAG HEUER CARRERA CHRONOGRAPH TOURBILLON CHRONOMETER
Since 1897, the Besançon Observatory, a French public and independent body, has certified the metrological quality of watches with a “Tête de Vipère” (viper’s head) standard. A guarantee of excellence and extreme precision, since 2006 – the year of its revival – this mark has been awarded to only 500 watches.
TAG Heuer wanted to enhance its new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Chronometer with an exclusive and authentic symbol of precision, presented on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the TAG Heuer Carrera collection.
The new contemporary model features two of the most fascinating complications of traditional watchmaking: a magnificent tourbillon and a chronograph produced and developed in-house by TAG Heuer, certified “Tête de Vipère.”
The movement is housed in a dark blue ceramic case, adorned with a ceramic bezel and lugs. The enchanting shade also decorates the movement’s mass and barrels. As a testament to the quality of Swiss watchmaking, the finishes are polished, satin-finished, and microblasted, for an elegant and modern result. Visible through the sapphire crystal on the case back, the viper’s head mark is printed on the bridge.
In addition to the quality and precision of the timepiece, it attests to the technical standard of a savoir-faire that approaches perfection. To obtain this certificate of excellence, each watch underwent a 16-day testing protocol, in five positions and at three different temperatures, to verify the quality of both the structure and the movement.
Sporty and bold like the collection it is named after, the model comes with a black alligator leather strap sewn onto rubber with stitching.
Symbol of high performance and high-quality artisanal savoir-faire, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Chronometer certified “Tête de Vipère” Bleu Nuit (dark blue) once again embodies all the excellence of TAG Heuer and the brand’s cutting edge since 1860.
