What are black diamonds?

In this world, besides the classic clear and sparkling diamond, there are numerous other colored diamonds. Whether natural or specially created, besides blue, yellow, and pink ones, there is also the variety of the black diamond.

How is the black diamond formed?

The black diamond can be produced naturally or artificially. Usually, if the diamond in question does not have a sky-high price, it is easy to understand its origin: in laboratories, diamonds originally of little value are heated to very high temperatures, thus turning black. In nature, black diamonds are produced by the inclusion of graphite in the crystal structure. These are very rare precious stones, found in very few mines in Brazil and Africa.

The difference

In terms of aesthetic beauty, the expert eye will not notice a difference between natural and artificial black diamonds; the price alone will make us perceive the difference. A natural diamond, in fact, costs at least 10 times more than one created in a laboratory.

How much does a black diamond cost?

The price of a black diamond is determined by several factors. First of all, the cut, which is very difficult to perform, as well as the setting, which requires particular care. Secondly, the price depends on the size. Currently, to purchase a black diamond, costs range around 300-400 euros per carat.

Why seek a black diamond?

A diamond, as is known, already makes a fine impression by itself. It gives elegance and style, symbolizes purity and brilliance, captures the light and makes us shine. When it comes to black diamonds, it is a whole other style. To the elegance of the diamond, is added that touch of mystery that makes today’s woman a little more special and nonconformist. These are precious stones "not for everyone," able to make us unique and distinguishable. Just consider some of the names of women who, between events and runways, have worn black diamonds: Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, Lauren Conrad, and many others. It is used by the finest houses to craft rings, cufflinks, pendants, and men's bracelets since the dark stone gives a more masculine look to the jewels. Also beautiful when set alone: it shines in all its splendor. The Spirit of the Grisogono, with its approximately 300 carats, is the largest black diamond in the world.

In short: the charm of diamonds does not end with the classic clear one, but allows us once again to experiment with different looks and styles.
