Women of gold: Silvia Damiani Grassi
Behind a great brand there is always a great team, waiting to be discovered, sometimes able to amaze and inspire us, perhaps made up of golden women. Today I would like to tell you about Silvia Damiani Grassi, granddaughter of the founder Enrico Damiani and today vice president of the brand. My hope is that her story and philosophy can be an inspiration for all those who love jewellery and hope that it can become part of their work.
Golden women: Silvia Damiani Grassi
A few words about Damiani
Maison Damiani was born in Valenza in 1924, in the heart of the goldsmith district considered the world’s finest for jewellery making, from the initiative of Enrico Grassi.
This skilled master goldsmith and jeweller managed to combine his projects with his ability to produce jewellery, becoming the first Italian company able to design and create jewellery from the very beginning.

Who is Silvia Damiani Grassi?
After Enrico Damiani, it was his son Damiano Damiani who took the reins of what was becoming an increasingly important company worldwide. Silvia Grassi Damiani was his firstborn, born in ’66, who from a very young age dealt with pearls, gemmology and communication. Alongside her, her brothers Giorgio and Guido also contributed to the growth of the family business.
After the early passing of Damiano Damiani, the management of the company, which had 200 employees, passed into the hands of his wife Gabriella and their three children.
Today Gabriella Damiani is honorary president, the son Guido is President and Chief Executive Officer, while Silvia and Giorgio are both vice presidents. Silvia, however, has continued to oversee the communication of the Maison, one of its greatest strengths.

Curiosities and inspirations
Silvia Damiani Grassi was only 23 years old when she set off for Japan to seek the finest pearls. Raised on "bread and jewellery," as she jokingly says, she had a background in gemmology and a great specialisation concerning the world of pearls.
“Remember that you have three things that will take you far: instinct, grit and heart,” was what her father told her and what the vice president still fondly recalls today. The trip to Japan was her first assignment, difficult but long-awaited, to fully enter the company’s management world.
The protection of Italian business has always been at the heart of Silvia Damiani Grassi’s work, who chose to value her femininity by using it as an incentive to always seek common ground.
A brand in pink
Damiani is a company that is 70% female, where Silvia proudly points out that the female share is evenly distributed throughout the company hierarchy, with equal pay. A happy haven, where not only the final product is precious, but also and above all what lies behind it.
Silvia Damiani Grassi is not only an expert in the field and an important contributor to the development of the family business, but also an example of female empowerment, where a solid career is based first and foremost on passion and the ability to always encourage others. A woman who is never satisfied, but above all who remembers well the teaching left by her father and grandfather: having a good heart is the most important thing.

A woman from whom to draw inspiration, for her ability to go straight towards her goals without ever leaving emotions aside.
Maison Damiani is today one of the most important luxury jewellery companies Made in Italy in the world, appreciated by all the finest connoisseurs. A starting point able to give us precious dreams, also thanks to Silvia’s great passion.
