Guide to the main types of rings

A ring: a band of metal worn on the finger. It seems like a definition far too simple for the value and meaning such a jewel can hold. Gold, white gold, silver, diamonds, and precious stones... but there are also various styles we can come across! Let’s discover together the different types of rings!

Solitaire

This is a ring with a single precious stone set in the center, in a sort of crown of precious metal. It is the most popular ring for engagement, precisely because the presence of a single stone signifies the uniqueness of feeling and a promise for the future.

Trilogy

As the name suggests, it is a ring made up of three gems, usually diamonds. It symbolizes a timeless meaning: one diamond represents the past, one the present, and one the future. Much like an endless declaration of love: I loved you, I love you, and I will love you! This very romantic meaning is certainly the most famous: the Trilogy is indeed one of the favourite rings for engagement. However, there is a second meaning, linked to the Catholic faith, which sees the Trilogy as a representation of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Wedding band or Eternity

The third among the preferred models for engagement is the so-called Wedding band or Eternity: a white gold band with diamonds. It can be made up of 5 small diamonds up to a full circle of precious stones (sometimes called Riviera). It is usually one of the first rings given in couples and represents a symbol of love, closeness, and passion for eternity.

Pavé

A main gem surrounded by small diamonds to increase its brightness and give the illusion of greater size. A pavé of crystals much appreciated in high-class jewellery. A bright and sparkling ring, suitable for a gift or a special occasion.

Princess

A timeless model, adored even by royalty over the centuries. White gold setting, a precious stone in the centre. Usually, the choice falls on sapphire, with its deep and clear blue, but there are also beautiful versions in emerald and ruby.

A timeless ring suitable for special occasions: a gift or a self-gift, a precious heirloom to leave to our heirs, a jewel of class and elegance that never goes out of style.

My advice

You can find the perfect ring for you in our Ferro Jewels shop! Among the most sought-after and prestigious brands, I recommend aiming for Damiani, a great leader in the production of classy rings. Precious materials and enviable brilliance: Damiani jewels have always been a beautiful symbol of a great promise of love to be fulfilled through a gesture.

These were the most popular and classic types of rings, to be preferred for a gift or a marriage proposal. Models suitable for all tastes and needs, always beautiful and of the highest quality. I am in love with the Princess model and, of course, the classic solitaire. And you, which do you prefer?
