Winter pearls

February is still a cold month, marked by icy days and the last glimpses of winter. The ideal time to wear pearls, which adapt to the colors and lights of the winter season.
Born from a simple grain of sand, yet precious and with an archaic charm, pearls shine under the cold lights of the winter sun, giving anyone who wears them an unparalleled touch of class.

First of all, it is good to remember that there are different types of pearls, distinguished based on the type of water in which they grow.

Types of pearls

There are Akoya Pearls, of Japanese origin, among the most prized on the market. They are born in saltwater and are therefore very rare. Their characteristic brightness makes them precious and of high value.

The Tahitian Pearls, then, originating from the eponymous country in French Polynesia, are saltwater pearls. Their special characteristic is given by the black and smoky shades they possess. They are truly unique pieces, capable of giving a very particular touch to the jewelry in which they are set.

The South Sea Pearls are instead white pearls, born in saltwater mainly in Australia and the Indian Ocean. These pearls are said to be the most precious in the world due to their innate size. They can take different shapes: round, semi-round, irregular, drop-shaped, button, baroque, scaramazze, or semi-baroque.

Finally, Freshwater Pearls, characterized by their particular “rice grain” shape, extravagant and able to take on different shades. Compared to the previous ones, they are less rare and precious, yet beautiful and definitely versatile in the world of jewelry.

How to wear pearls in winter?

Necklaces

A “Chanel” style, long pearl necklace is perfect for winter, to pair with wool sweaters and multiple layers. Alternatively, opting for a closer-fitting choker can be a winning tactic for deeper necklines. Ideal with bright and bold colors, but also with darker and classy tones.

Earrings

As for pearl earrings, the simplest choice is always the most elegant. Stud earrings, in fact, are definitely the best to make our face shine in summer and... winter. They practically match with anything!

Bracelets and rings

In winter they are often hidden by long sleeves and gloves, but they can add an extra touch of class to any outfit.
Pearls also help warm up your look, giving us a certain something that really stands out in the cold winter. However, it’s better to choose simple and discreet designs that don’t cause discomfort.
