Locman joins Genesi
Locman is a symbol of Made in Italy watchmaking that never ceases to amaze us. Born by the sea, on the Island of Elba, in March 2021 it took another step towards growth. It actually joined the historic Milanese manufacturer Genesi. Let’s discover together how Locman joins Genesi!
A dive into the past...
Locman
Locman, let’s remember, is a historic all-Italian watchmaking group, born in 1986 on the beautiful Island of Elba. It produces wristwatches, but also glasses, and was founded by Locci and Mantovani. In 2006 Locman also founded the Italian School of Watchmaking, with a view to continuous development not only of the company itself but also of the watchmaking world. It boasts offices located in Florence, Milan, Tokyo, New York, and Hong Kong.
Genesi
Genesi, on the other hand, was born in Milan as a watch factory-studio over 50 years ago, founded by Luigi Leandri. It positions itself as a mechanical workshop for precision work, specializing in the production of watches on behalf of third parties. Its collaboration with Locman began from the brand’s early days, producing the first burl wood watches. A great success from the very beginning.
The first meetings
In 2003 a small but great turning point: Locman, among the rare independent brands on the market, acquired 60% of Genesi’s share capital, then reaching 100% only 3 years later.
In short: the close collaboration between the two companies has now lasted 18 years and it’s time to make a leap in quality, officially uniting the two brands.
The choice to merge the two companies is therefore dictated by a shared past, with a strategy aimed at offering enthusiasts watches of ever higher quality.
A look to the future
The goal stated by Marco Mantovani, president of Locman, is to continue keeping alive the wonderful tradition of Italian watchmaking, giving greater value to the productive and technological excellences that our peninsula hosts.
The best watchmaking technicians in the world are Italian, it’s worth specifying! And surely Locman and Genesi will proudly uphold this all-Italian pride.
