At Christmas, give a feeling!

For many, at Christmas, the idea of a “gift” represents a necessary step to keep a tradition alive or to please friends and family. A kind of habit that, unfortunately, is becoming more and more commercial and consumer-driven, as if it no longer held the importance it once did. Today, however, I would like to reflect on the value that, in my view, a gift should have, especially during this magical and enchanting time of year! It is not about choosing a trivial object just to honor a relationship, but about knowing how to convey your own feelings and affection through a thoughtful gesture. Not an obligation, nor a habit: a gift must arise spontaneously, be thought of in honor of the recipient, with the intention not only to please them but above all to relive and confirm the bond between you! For this reason, the ideal gift to find under the tree, carefully wrapped with a lovely bow, should have the power to convey a sincere emotion. A little package to unwrap undoubtedly makes everyone happy... but even more so if its contents can hold a fond memory or become the symbol of sincere and lasting affection. A symbolic jewel given to one’s mother to thank her for her ever-present help, a pocket watch for the father who always manages to carve out some time for us... or a pendant for a sister’s collection, chosen based on shared passions! Also, a bracelet with a masculine cut for one’s son, fiancé, brother, or best friend who loves simplicity; a ring as a classic symbol of love for one’s beloved or a beautiful pair of sparkling earrings for the best friend, reminding her to always be lively. If our gift is a valuable object, moreover, we will have the assurance of sharing with our loved ones something that can become ever more precious over time, just like our feelings: an added quality not to be overlooked! In short: we must remember that, above all else, Christmas is the supreme feast capable of enhancing the bonds of affection and love between us and our dear ones! There is no better occasion to honor all this through a jewel or a quality accessory that symbolizes a memory, a thank you, or an important sign of sharing! It matters little whether our gift is large or small, if it is accompanied by sincere feelings, such as love and friendship, able to bring to mind a happy memory every time it is seen, touched, or worn. So let us begin to restore a symbolic and emotional value to gifts, entrusting them with the task of conveying a memory of joy, friendship, affection, and love! And finally, when handing over our gifts, we can spend Christmas with the same sincere emotion as when we were children.
