How to take care of your watch

The watch, accessory and life companion, allows us to keep an eye on every moment of our day. From appointments to leaving work time, from minutes of running at the gym to the passing seconds if we are waiting for someone: today we see together how to take care of your watch, to always have the right time at a glance.

Taking care of your watch

Keep the right charge

It is important to always try to keep your watches working and active. It is not just a matter of convenience, so you don’t have to set the time every time you decide to wear them, but also to safeguard the chronograph itself!

Many watches wind automatically with wrist movement, but from time to time it is good to perform a manual winding. Just wind the watch manually, with a few rotations of the crown, the small button located on the side of the dial!

For the laziest, know that there are also watch boxes on the market, called winders, created specifically to wind your wristwatch.

Be careful with water

Unless you own a diving watch, pay close attention to water and all liquids that could come into contact with your chronograph! Make sure your watch is waterproof before coming into contact with water.

If you have a diving watch, remember to rinse it with water and neutral soap after swimming in the sea, saltwater could damage it! Be careful, in any case, with diving and long swims: better to avoid!

Pay attention to the environment

Humidity and temperatures could damage our wristwatch. Although today watches are made with high-quality, durable, and well-crafted materials, it is best to avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures, below 0°C and above 50°C.
Metals can expand at these temperatures. Or, proper lubrication necessary to keep the mechanical components functioning might be lacking.

Just like water, humidity can also cause problems over time. In these cases, it is important to screw down the watch crown properly to prevent dangerous infiltration.

Finally, watch out for magnetic fields, as they could compromise the chronograph's functioning.

Avoid accidental impacts

Even the most durable watches can be damaged by a severe accidental impact. So be careful with drops and accidental knocks. Even with sports watches, it's better to be cautious during use.

Service periodically

The last step, but no less important, is to periodically service your watch. Taking the chronograph to your trusted jeweler allows us to always have its functioning checked, ensuring a product that is always at its best!
