Ethics and jewelry: all the brands mindful of the environment and people
Ethics and jewellery: all brands mindful of the environment and people.
Care for the environment and people is a fundamental part of what lies behind the finest jewellery and watchmaking brands in the world. Taking care to safeguard our Planet is essential, especially in a historical period when the risks linked to global warming, deforestation, and wars are truly decisive for the survival of all.
Fortunately, in the world of jewellery there are many brands attentive to the environment and people: sourcing their raw materials from ethical and certified origins is the first step, followed closely by dedicating part of their funds to the protection of the Earth.
Today we discover together some of the most appreciated ethical brands: a good reason to love them even more!
Ethics and jewellery: all brands mindful of the environment and people
Calderoni
One of the first brands attentive to the environment and people is certainly Calderoni, dedicated to diamonds since 1840. The brand, recently joined the Damiani Group, deals with the careful selection of precious stones, especially diamonds, safe-haven assets that are running out and increase their value over time.
Besides the great transparency of this entirely Italian brand regarding pricing and certification, it is important to know that behind every diamond there is a deep ethical sense on the part of the company.
Calderoni indeed adheres to the Ethical Principles of the Kimberley Process, aimed at combating child labour and the funding of civil wars. This important international protocol, promoted by the UN, ensures that all the brand’s suppliers certify that their products do not in any way contribute to financing civil wars. Calderoni also ensures that no child is involved in the sourcing and processing of the materials used.
An important message, that of attention to peace, which makes Calderoni an even more appreciated brand. And we, in fact, like it very much!
Damiani
Just like its partner Calderoni, Damiani also pays great attention to the origin of the raw materials used to create wonderful luxury jewellery.
Damiani not only adheres together with its entire Damiani Group to the Kimberley Process, but has also earned the recognition of “Ethical Company”.
Damiani’s raw materials do not come from conflict zones, protect the guarantee of human rights, ensure the safety of workers, and support the development of local communities. Moreover, they follow precise protocols to minimise environmental degradation.
But Damiani does not only deal with raw materials! Over the years, it has invested many funds in projects supporting victims of natural disasters, has provided drinking water wells for Africa, and raised funds for the reconstruction of areas in Nepal after the 2015 earthquake. These are just some of the initiatives of Damiani Group, which make us even prouder to be among the official retailers of this entirely Italian company.

Locman
With Locman, from the Island of Elba to our wrist, we instead turn towards the protection of the sea and oceans, victims of the abuse of plastic nowadays. Thanks to the collaboration with the Navy, it has launched the hashtag #indefenceofthesea, dedicated to ethical and ecological attention towards the marine environment.
Launching the Mare watch collection, Locman has also created a partnership with the MareVivo Association, which for over thirty years has fought nationally and internationally for the defence of the sea. Locman has announced that it will stand alongside the association for the coming years, donating part of the proceeds from the sale of the Mare line watches.
A beautiful initiative that combines the passion for luxury with care for the environment.
Swatch
Swatch Group too, with its fun and imaginative watches, stands up for ethics, always clearly setting the Company’s policies, oriented towards values of respect for people and legality. Moreover, with many of its creations, also aimed at the youngest, it has repeatedly highlighted its serious commitment to environmental protection.
Just think of the brand-new Bioreloaded collection, created entirely with materials of biological origin.
To combine practicality, simplicity, fresh and youthful style with care for the Planet, Swatch is definitely at the forefront!

WeWood
Another entirely Italian brand that makes environmental protection its strong point is certainly WeWood. With its wooden watches, this very accessible brand not only teaches us to appreciate accessories with an ancient and natural touch, but also allows us to do good.
The Florentine brand produces wristwatches in wood, completely free of toxic and artificial materials, using reclaimed woods from all over the world.
For every watch sold, in fact, WeWood plants a tree, thanks to collaboration with non-profit organisations dedicated to the protection of forests and plantations, such as Treedom, American Forests, and Trees for the Future. To date, WeWood has planted over 600,000 trees, also helping to support local communities economically and to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions. The next goal? To plant at least 1 million trees!
Ferro Design
We will talk about it more soon, but it is always right to anticipate that Ferro Design is also an ethical brand. The raw materials used in the creation of splendid unique and personalised jewellery come from ethical sources, which do not finance wars and do not exploit workers in any way. In short: Ferro Gioielli, besides reselling brands attentive to the environment and people, is itself a 100% ethical company!
