The birth of Marco Bicego: from waste to beauty
I always like to start from the history of brands to fully understand their message. The past of Marco Bicego won me over, precisely because, from the very beginning, he always chose to enhance imperfection, making every jewel a unique piece.
The event
Marco Bicego, a jeweler from a family tradition, was still working in his father's company when he saw a chain discarded because it had a defect. The chain should have been melted again and reworked from scratch to eliminate the imperfection.
A daily image, which can be glimpsed who knows how many times in a jewelry manufacturing company... but not in Marco Bicego's workshops!
That simple vision indeed sparked a flame in Marco's soul, who from that day decided to base all his work precisely on imperfection.
Works of art made in gold
The story of this resourceful designer starts right here: from a discarded chain! From that day, Marco Bicego chose to base his art on the tradition of the wrapped wire, also called spiral. Needless to say, even today, spiral jewelry represents Bicego's best collections, including Goa, Cairo, Masai, and Marrakech, which have made the brand recognizable worldwide.
Imperfect and always different, the spiral is the symbol of this all-Italian brand, a tribute to craftsmanship and jewelry, which is conceived as a true work of art.

Marco Bicego helped create a new concept of irregular beauty, deliberately imperfect, unique and unrepeatable, through a thin thread of 18-carat yellow gold that is engraved with the bulino technique, giving a satin effect, or wrapped in a spiral around a core also made of gold. This is then shaped by the skilled hands of Vicenza artisans, following the guitar string technique, with a special hand-twisting that creates a soft and sinuous flow, similar to the sand dunes of the African desert, always ready to change and reflect the sunlight.
