Designed to explore the ocean depths and equipped with a helium valve, the Montecristo 500 Meters is a reliable companion for deep diving enthusiasts, ensuring water resistance up to 50 atmospheres (500 meters). The valve is positioned on the left side of the case and functions to release excess pressure during decompression in a hyperbaric chamber. During deep water dives, divers must breathe a mixture of helium and oxygen to avoid nitrogen narcosis, a condition that at great depths can cause illness and disorientation. Because helium molecules are extremely small, they can penetrate the watch’s seals, potentially compromising its functions. The helium valve therefore allows trapped helium to safely escape.
