These 1000 pieces were produced and assembled by the TAG Heuer Manufacture at its sites in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Chevenez in Switzerland. From the processing of the mainplate to coating, movement assembly, adjustment and fine tuning, casing stages, functional and aesthetic control, engraving and bracelet fitting, everything is made in Switzerland, within the TAG Heuer Manufacture.

The news was announced by Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and President of the Watches Division of the LVMH group, during the press conference for the new smartwatch in Brunnen, Switzerland.

To celebrate this fundamental achievement, important for the brand, Jean-Claude Biver decided to draw public attention by putting the thousandth COSC-certified tourbillon chronograph up for auction on eBay from March 14 to 29, 2017. The watch will be presented in an exclusive case that will also contain the new TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 – all with a starting price of 17,900 CHF / 17,000 USD / 16,730€. The proceeds from the sale will be entirely donated to the Make-A-Wish Switzerland foundation, which fulfills the wishes of children aged 3 to 18 living with a serious illness, to give them strength, hope, and joy.

The TAG Heuer Tourbillon Chronograph COSC Heuer-02T movement was entirely designed and developed at TAG Heuer. Skeletonised movement, low-inertia tourbillon made of carbon and titanium (the only one currently on the market), it consists of 284 components, has a diameter of 31 mm (13 ¾‘’’ lignes), a thickness of 6.9 mm, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations/hour) with a power reserve of 65 hours. The project, developed with the strategic goal of remaining below 15,000 CHF, was launched in 2015. This means that all the teams of the manufacture (engineers, watchmakers, designers, purchasing, production) were involved and participated in this creation in order to optimise costs. Finally, thanks to this synergy, the challenge was met to present a finished piece at BaselWorld 2016. In the Swiss watchmaking industry, the price of 14,900 CHF is extremely competitive for a Tourbillon watch, in line with Jean-Claude Biver’s desire and strategy to make TAG Heuer the leader in accessible luxury.
